ABSTRACT
Water at varying depths below the earth surface in saturated zones of the geological layers is called a groundwater reservoir. Groundwater is the most important hydrologic cycle component in arid regions. If there is no impermeable layer above, then the upper level of the saturated zone is the water table, above which the unsaturated (aeration) zone exists, including soil moisture and vadose water.
