ABSTRACT
Because this is a book about a management methodology, we thought it might be useful to illustrate some aspects of strategic TRIZ and the eight evolutionary patterns by tracing the etiology of business excellence from the early days of organizational life. All the management discoveries of the past 100 years have been catalogued into some integrated framework or consciousness of business excellence. One piece builds on the next in the never-ending cycle to create and deliver more value per unit of investment. Scientific discovery evolves, technology progresses, business systems get more sophisticated, and methodologies of performance excellence become more commoditized.
