ABSTRACT
Generally speaking, the active part of a cutting tool appears as a wedge. In a machining operation, the cutting wedge is properly oriented with respect to the surface of the cut, as well as with respect to the direction of the speed of the resultant motion of the cutting wedge relative to the surface of the cut.
