ABSTRACT

Digital human modeling is used to verify human-machine interaction requirements for designing products and workplaces. Digital human modeling tools are essential, consisting of three major parts. First, a mannequin can be a replica of the human being with respect to the design of biomechanical design and motion behavior. Second, a CAD tool analyzes products and/or production environments. Th ird, ergonomic evaluation tools can analyze human products or human production environment interaction. Digital human modeling is a relatively new tool, and users ask for improvements in human motion behavior control and ergonomic evaluation methods. In order to know how human motions are carried out in certain situations, experiments in laboratories and in the fi eld are conducted. Human health and quality of performance are also registered during these motion experiments. Information about human motions is implemented in digital human modeling tools as posture/motion databases that allow users to predict mannequin motions in the CAD environments. Linked to motion patterns are information about human health and performance quality, which can used as a human product or production environment interaction evaluation tool.
