Network component cooperation is a crucial requirement for operational multi-hop wireless ad hoc networks, as selfish and noncooperativebehavior, can critically damage network performance. In this chapter we use some game theoretical concepts for the modeling and formal analysis of operations in this type of network. Our analysis will develop from fully cooperative conditions to more complex scenarioswhere network reliability, connectivity, andmobilitymake it impossible to consider entirely cooperative frameworks.
