ABSTRACT

No model has the capacity to be all things to all people. The value of a model lies in its ability to focus effort on a shared intent. Hence, there must be leadership commitment to using the model or methodology selected. Once a commitment is made, a model serves as a framework to measure and achieve progress toward a stated goal, much like a map. A map is a tool, it will not set your direction, but it is useful in planning the route you’ll take and the distance you’ll travel. It provides information to help determine the duration of travel and the supplies needed to get to the destination. There are limits. It will not provide resistance data like traffic congestion or construction.
