ABSTRACT

Medical Services Theoretical Assumptions There are some simplified assumptions, based on modern behavioral theories and a systems approach, regarding how medical errors can be reduced or controlled in organizations such as hospitals. These generalizations have been applied with some success in certain circumstances. However, it is not possible at this time to gauge accurately what effect may be due to good intentions, good application, or the goodwill that may flow from any focused attention on a particular activity. Refinement of the process and development of skills may yield an important segment of an error management program.
