ABSTRACT
Gold jewelry and other decorative artifacts have been produced by man since the early Bronze Age. Traditionally, they have been made by skilled goldsmiths using craft skills and simple hand tools. Indeed, it can be said that humans learned the craft of metalworking on native gold and copper and this has led, via the Bronze Age, Iron Age, and our more recent Steel Age, to the modern electronics-based society in which we live today.
