ABSTRACT

The tropical rain forest exists in the constantly wet areas of the humid tropics. It is generally characterized by

evergreen forms of vegetation, as far as it has not been destroyed for farming and timber production. In its original state, the forest looks awesome and impenetrable due to an abundance of very dense vegetative growth. In general, it is composed of a wide variety of plant species, and only in very few exceptions can one nd a rain forest stand composed of a single plant species.
