ABSTRACT
The First Law of Thermodynamics is also known as the energy conservation law. It states:
Energy cannot be created or destroyed, but only transformed from one kind of energy to another.
For example, a muscle converts chemical energy, stored in the chemical adenosine triphosphate (ATP), into kinetic energy, the energy associated with movement. Such a conversion of energy is called an energy transduction, and the apparatus that brings about the transduction is called an energy transducer.
