ABSTRACT
As shown by the above quote, written by Claude Shannon in his famous paper [Sha49], multivariate polynomial systems of equations naturally arise when writing down cryptanalytic problems. To illustrate this fact, let us consider two simple examples, one coming from public key cryptography and the other from secret key cryptography.
