Quick identification when a failure happens means a quicker response to the problem and subsequent corrective action. This situation is no exception within the project environment. Whether in the product development, production support, or postlaunch customer effect, prompt determination of root cause and implementation of corrective action are critical. If the development team does not report and correct a problem in the development activity quickly, the corrective action delays production or causes nonconforming material to arrive at the customer’s loading dock.
