ABSTRACT

A written invitation to a deposition creates nervousness and anxiety in members of the medical profession even if no formal complaint of malpractice has as yet been entered. We feel confident in resuscitating the patient in complete cardio-pulmonary arrest, but we cringe at the thought of facing a lawyer’s questions. We fear any situation over which we do not have complete control. Teamwork is usually the key to success in medicine, and we have difficulty understanding our duties and responsibilities when confronted with isolation.
