The RSA Cryptosystem book
The RSA cryptosystem, named after its inventors Ron Rivest, Adi Shamir and Leonard Adleman, is the most widely known and widely used public-key cryptosystem in the world today.
For example, as one of the public-key cryptosystems used in the Transport Layer Security (TLS) protocol and its predecessor, the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) protocol, the RSA cryptosystem is used millions of times each day on the Internet. Essentially, RSA is used to transmit a session key for a symmetric cryptosystem which is then used to ensure the security of a communication.
