ABSTRACT
Three devices are important for hybrid vehicles: battery, fuel cell (FC), and capacitor. All three are electrochemical devices. Batteries and capacitors store energy. Storage of energy is essential for regenerative braking. In addition, batteries and capacitors provide energy for electric-only propulsion and electric assist. An FC converts a fuel to electrical energy.
