ABSTRACT

From their discovery, ferroelectrics were more of academic interest, of little application and theoretical relevance. e recognition of the relationship between lattice dynamics and ferroelectricity as well as the modeling of ferroelectric phase transitions has intensi ed the investigations of ferroelectrics. e focus changed further, when thin- lm ferroelectrics were developed and applied in di erent devices in 1980s. Since that time, there has been a renewed e ort in the fabrication, application, and theoretical understanding of ferroelectric materials scaled down up to nanometers. is chapter reviews the physical behavior of such ferroelectric nanoparticles.
