ABSTRACT

Figure 1 shows a schematic of a cluster made up of two computer systems and accessed by five clients. Each computer that is part of a cluster is called a node. The nodes of a cluster have network links between them that are used to communicate with each other. In addition to their own hard drives, the nodes also have a connection to a shared hard drive that stores shared cluster data. Figure 1 shows a Small Computer System Interface (SCSI) shared hard drive.
