ABSTRACT

A laser is a device that emits light (or more generally electromagnetic (EM) radiation) through a process called stimulated emission. ›e term “laser” is an acronym for light ampliœcation by stimulated emission of radiation [1]. ›e œrst working laser was demonstrated on May 16, 1960, by ›eodore Maiman at Hughes Research Laboratories. It was a pulsed ruby laser. ›e main characteristics of laser beam are monochromaticity, coherence, divergence, and brightness.
