ABSTRACT
Product development is one of the more interesting things engineers do. The ability to bring something new into the world is very exciting, and it is an ability of which to be genuinely proud. Few engineers worthy of the title are unmoved by the delivery of their “baby” to the customer. This baby may be a communications satellite, a television set, a microprocessor, or a website. No matter what it is, what makes this so wonderful and exciting is that the baby is something you helped make. The feeling of being a proud parent of some new product is one of the great pleasures in engineering. Possessing the skill to do this well is a gift to be treasured.
