ABSTRACT

With the exception of militaries and nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) such as peacekeeping organizations, most organizations seek to fulll their organization’s mission by positioning themselves in an area of need for which they have expertise to offer, and otherwise seek to avoid risk and benet from positive political, business, social, and economic trends. The most successful organizations do this not intuitively, but analytically, annually reviewing their situation with respect to industry and market trends, to economic trends, and to business and security risks.
