ABSTRACT
Face recognition refers to the technique of identifying a given face image within an image database. It is dierent from the operation of face detection, which essentially means to nd the face of any human subject in a given image without knowing who the subject is. Face recognition has received much attention in recent years due to its many applications in dierent elds such as law enforcement, security applications, or video indexing. Face recognition is a very challenging problem and to date, there is no technique that provides a robust solution in all situations and various applications that face recognition may encounter.
