ABSTRACT
The element-free Galerkin (EFG) method is developed by Belytschko et al. [1] based on the diffuse elements method (DEM) originated by Nayroles et al. [2]. The major features of the DEM and the EFG method are as follows:
1. Moving least squares (MLS) approximation is employed for the construction of shape functions.
