ABSTRACT

Organizations with overseas facilities may œnd that U.S. standards related to pedestrian safety are not well recognized. Even the research community is at odds when conducting studies on slip resistance and related issues. Whereas the United States has historically considered the static coefœcient of friction (SCOF) as the most important measure related to pedestrian slip resistance, other countries have focused on the measurement of dynamic coefœcient of friction (DCOF) as the most relevant measurement of slip resistance.
