ABSTRACT
The PKU-PSD project is designed to investigate species composition, structures, growth, and environment of plant communities and ecological traits of dominant species along altitudinal gradients in typical mountains across the country, using consistent sampling protocols. At the same time, information on fl ora, climate and topography, and remote sensing data for the mountain areas also are collected. Using these data sets at plot, local, and regional levels, the project is exploring the following issues:
1. Altitudinal patterns of species composition, structure, and species diversity of plant communities in each mountain.
