What can we learn from a military theorist from 500 BC about leadership in the twenty-first century? And just who is Sun Tzu? And just what does some dude from 500 BC China know about supply chain leadership? The Art of War continues to be required reading for a large number of our trading partners and supply chain partners in the Asia-Pacific Rim. This chapter takes a quick look at Sun Tzu, his writing, and the applications of this ancient book on strategy to leadership and supply chains to form the foundation for our discussions on modeling supply chain leadership.
