ABSTRACT
Overview The purpose of this chapter is to discuss major Lean tools, methods, and concepts. Our goal is to show the similarities between Lean and current project management methods used to manage information technology (IT) projects with a focus on Agile Project Management (APM) with scrum. This discussion will show how Lean methods can be applied to the management of Lean IT projects. In this approach, the goal will be to show how Lean practitioners can blend IT project management tools and methods within already deployed Lean systems. A second goal is to discuss adaptable and flexible approaches to the management of Lean IT projects to create, modify, and deploy hardware and software systems in manufacturing and service processes to increase organizational productivity.
