ABSTRACT

Efficient software design and testing is important. In earlier chapters of this book, it was shown that efficient software testing begins by accurately capturing and translating the voice of the customer (VOC) and key stakeholders into simple standardized and mistake-proofed hardware and software designs that deliver the necessary system features and functions. The measurement of the interrelated project work activities necessary to create these designs as well as the improvements of software design and testing depend on the four key factors shown in Figure 8.1. These factors, which influence the design of software systems, are IT governance, the various governmental and industry standards organizations must adhere to, product and service performance metrics and dashboards, and the measurement and improvement of IT systems.
