ABSTRACT

The SETAC Workshop on Veterinary Medicines in the Environment concluded the following:

1) The impact of veterinary medicines on the environment will depend on several factors, including the amounts used, animal husbandry practices, treatment type and dose, metabolism within the animal, method and route of administration, environmental toxicity, physicochemical properties, soil type, weather, manure storage and handling practices, and degradation rates in manure and slurry.
