ABSTRACT
The subject of combustion embraces a wide variety of processes and phenomena. Even a brief summary of the vast amount of material that has been published on combustion science and technology would be well beyond the scope and intention of this chapter. Instead, attention is focused on a few key aspects of combustion that are considered to be most relevant to the gas turbine and are not covered in the remaining chapters of this book.
