ABSTRACT

Nutrition has long been recognized as a prognostic and therapeutic determinant in patients with chronic liver disease1 and, therefore, has been included as one of the variables in the original prognostic score introduced by Child and Turcotte.2 Yet, not all hepatologists consider nutrition issues in the management of their patients. In this chapter, the scientic and evidence base of nutrition management of patients with liver disease is reviewed to give recommendations for nutrition therapy.
