When a drop of ink falls into a beaker of water, the ink diffuses in the water and the spot of ink disappears or becomes invisible to the naked eye after some time. This is a typical diffusion phenomenon that shows the spontaneous movement of particles/ substances from a region of higher concentration to a region of lower concentration. A close examination would con rm that the ink molecules are equally distributed in all directions, i.e., the diffusion of the ink spot is isotropic in the water medium.
