ABSTRACT

Energy transport through molecular systems has received considerable interest, in particular, because to its importance for molecular electronics and the functioning of biological systems. For example, the energy transport through long-chain hydrocarbon molecules,1 small molecules in solution,2 and bridged azulene-anthracene

compounds3 has been studied. Also biological systems like reverse micelles4 and proteins5-8 have generated interest from both experimental and theoretical points of view. In spite of these efforts, the role of speci c structural elements like α-helices and β-sheets in the energy transport is still not well understood.
