ABSTRACT
When light impinges on matter, it can be absorbed, reflected or transmitted (or a combination of these). Substances that absorb visible light are generally referred to as pigments (visible light mostly ranges from about 400 nm to 700 nm). Not surprisingly, different pigments absorb light of different wavelengths and the color of a pigment is the result of the light most strongly reflected.
