But let us now return to the question of where we are. If we want to know that, we need to know where the other celestial objects are and that means we need to first know what is where relative to our position and second how far away the observed objects are. In the following two sections, we therefore first have a look at what can be found in the sky and then at how the distance to celestial objects can be measured.
