ABSTRACT

Industrial clusters are composed of multiple industries, among which there exist definite relationships. From the point of view of system theory, an industrial cluster is actually a system composed of many industries. In order to study the system-an industrial cluster, first, we should know relationships among industries; that is, we should understand the inner structure of the system because the functions of a system are mainly determined by the structures of the system. Structures of industrial clusters have correlation and interdependent relationships among basic integral parts, namely among industries. Structures of industrial clusters are determined by the functional links and spatial links among industries and, in turn, deeply influence functional links and spatial links of industrial clusters and then proceed to influence functional characteristics of industrial clusters. Under the condition of location, structural characteristics of industrial clusters mostly depend on the ways of functional links among industries.
