ABSTRACT
With this statement over 400 years ago, Paracelsus expressed a major fact of toxicology that is still true today. As in ancient times, we are concerned with the poisons and hazards that occur in our ambient environment. This includes exposures to toxic agents in the workplace and food chain as well as from naturally occurring and man-made activities.
