ABSTRACT
As can be imagined, there are several competing technologies that facilitate the simultaneous examination of thousands of genes. Appendix A highlights some of the main contenders in this realm, along with relevant material. The digital generation stage of the microarray process is usually completed with a specially built scanner device; the key differences between the two most widely used scanner systems are highlighted appropriately.
