ABSTRACT

The single species potential habitat models presented and described here represent a simple version of how potential habitat can be predicted given new land uses. More complex techniques describing species distributions could be done using non-parametric statistical techniques.13 This would require an adequate sampling design for abundance and more detailed knowledge about the physical attributes of known locations where specific species occur. Future research about individual species may be done in a manner to accommodate advances in modeling techniques, including new statistical procedures. These statistical procedures would allow for a more scientifically defensible rendition of potential habitat and the subsequent predicted distribution of individual species.
