In this section, we will cast these generic steps in terms of SIP. We will also cover session teardown procedures, although they are omitted from the steps listed above. First, some comments are in order. The reader should view the calling party and the called party as software processes carrying out the wishes of end users (rather than the end users themselves). The steps listed above take place in the Control Plane.
