ABSTRACT

Longan is also called cat’s eyes. It is cultivated widely in Southeast Asia. Fruit is sweet and tasty and the juicy aril is eaten fresh. Fruit is also dried, canned, or frozen. The tea made from longan fruit is considered a tonic. Dried flowers are used for medicinal purposes, and the wood is a valuable timber for furniture. Seeds have a high saponin content and are used in man­ ufacturing shampoo.
