ABSTRACT

Statistics is like a toolbox, full of different mathematical tools for working on numbers. Each tool in the box has its proper uses, but no single tool does everything. The tool you choose depends on the job. Like a skilled craftsperson who knows how to match the tool with the task, a good statistician knows which statistical tool is appropriate for the type of data to be worked. A decision maker who relies on the statistician’s works needs to know enough to make sure that the job was done with the right tool.
