ABSTRACT
Jerey C. Bauer, Ph.D., is a Chicago-based partner in healthcare management consulting and director of the healthcare futures practice for Affiliated Computer Services, Inc. (ACS). With more than 18 years of experience as a consultant, he assists hospitals and other provider organizations with strategic planning and visioning, leadership education, technology assessment, and service line transformation. Dr. Bauer also spent 17 years as a professor at two medical schools and served as health policy adviser for the governor of Colorado. A nationally respected medical economist and health futurist, Dr. Bauer has published 165 articles, books, and videos. He speaks frequently to national audiences about key trends in healthcare, medical science, technology, reimbursement, information systems, public policy, health reform, and creative problem-solving. In his numerous publications and presentations, he forecasts the future of healthcare and describes practical, creative approaches to improving the delivery system. Dr. Bauer is quoted often in the national press and writes regularly for professional journals that cover the business of healthcare. He was a Ford Foundation independent scholar, a Fulbright scholar (Switzerland), and a Kellogg Foundation National Fellow. He holds a B.A. from Colorado College and a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Colorado at Boulder.
