ABSTRACT

Contract management is performed to oversee the formal business relationship between a buyer and a seller, in this case the performing organization and the customer. Therefore, in terms of project management, the project manager is ideally situated to be the “contract manager” relative to the established customer business relationship for each project. This does not preclude using a more formal contract management position within the organization. It just means that the project manager should be positioned to oversee or influence contract management activities relative to project interests and objectives.
