ABSTRACT

Organisational and task factors Although this book is about the design, maintenance, and operation of mining equipment, it is misleading to divorce the equipment from the environment in which it will be used. Earlier in this book we examined the physical environment (such as noise and temperature). The focus of this chapter is on the organisational environment-how work and tasks are organised, and how they impact mining equipment. As will be seen, such organisational and task factors can have effects on simple equipment as well as on advanced technologies.
