ABSTRACT
Chapter 12 dealt with examples of inherent safety and friendlier plant design in the nuclear industry. Here we cover the usage of inherently safer design not in a specific industry per se, but rather in a particular application area within industry (the process industries and otherwise). Explosion prevention and mitigation, with an emphasis on dust explosions, is the subject of Chapter 13.
