ABSTRACT

There really is not a need for a separate chapter in this book to deal with inherentsafety case studies, at least not in the sense of providing more examples. Numerous cases of both good and poor use of inherently safer design principles are interspersed throughout the previous chapters. So the objective of this chapter is a bit different. Here the goal is to provide some thoughts on where to look for case studies that involve inherent-safety considerations. The advice given should be useful when engaged in training efforts (Section 11.2.8).
