ABSTRACT

Introduction A business exists to make money, and an institution serves a specific purpose, whether public or private. When a disaster affects any enterprise, it can cause a major loss of productivity and service that will affect the bottom line. The ability to identify and respond to a disaster or emergency is one of the more important roles for the loss-prevention department and the security and/or safety officer. Training, experience, and company policy as well as local, state, and federal laws should be taken into consideration where appropriate and relevant.
