ABSTRACT

Bearing in mind that violence in the workplace may appear to have nothing to do with disasters, one only has to think of the incidents that have occurred in the recent past. Assaults in varying degrees have occurred in post offices, schools and universities, institutions, and other work locations. The offender might be an angry workman, a mentally disturbed student, or an enraged spouse. Whatever the occurrence or the reason, death, injury, and destruction of property can be excessive. As an afterthought to what may have already occurred, awareness of the causation of the incident, along with controls and preventive measures, could have at least reduced the seriousness or results of the act.
