ABSTRACT

Dacqué (1921, Figure 323) reproduced spectacular gures from von Koenen (1892) of North German Oligocene Xenophora with attached pebbles. Perillat and Vega (2001) described a Late Cretaceous spiny xenophoran gastropod (Acanthoxenophora) from southern Mexico and reviewed the fossil record of Cretaceous xenophorans, with the oldest being a Late Cretaceous, Cenomanian item from Texas (there are no known pre-Late Cretaceous xenophorans). Squires and Saul (2001) described a spectacular Late Cretaceous (late Campanian-Maastrichtian) xenophoran from the San Diego region with attached pebbles, and they reviewed many of the other Late Cretaceous and some Cenozoic xenophorans.
