ABSTRACT
Early Attempts When photography first appeared early in the nineteenth century its images were in monochrome; but it was quickly accepted as a promising newcomer to the visual arts. As far as we can tell from contemporary writings, nobody seemed concerned about the absence of color from the image, at least in landscape and architectural photography.
